Blessing
berakah (בְּרָכָה) / eulogia (εὐλογία)
Blessing is words spoken by God, or on His behalf, that carry His life and favour into a person's life.
Scripture first
“The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.”
First appearance in the Bible
Genesis 1:28.God blesses the man and woman on the sixth day. Blessing is the first thing God says over humanity — before the fall, before the law.
Biblical meaning
In Scripture blessing is not a good mood or a lucky break. It is words spoken by God, or on His behalf, that carry His life into a person's life. Fathers bless sons. Priests bless congregations. God blesses the world through Abraham's family, and finally through Christ. Berakah is connected to the word for kneeling — blessing lowers itself to give. To be blessed is to be spoken over by God; to bless is to speak Him into another life.

God blesses the man and woman (Gen 1:28).
Patriarchs
'I will bless you … all peoples on earth will be blessed through you' (Gen 12:2-3).
Priestly
The Aaronic blessing (Num 6:24-26) becomes Israel's daily benediction.

'Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked' (Ps 1:1).
Gospels
The Beatitudes redefine 'blessed' — the poor in spirit, the mourning, the merciful (Matt 5).

What Scripture says
Every believer is a 'royal priesthood' (1 Pet 2:9). You are authorised to speak God's favour over your children, spouse, friends, and enemies.
Living the text
Speak blessing out loud today. Over your children before they leave. Over your spouse before you sleep. Over a friend who is discouraged. Words matter; Scripture treats them almost as substance. Blessing lays weight where discouragement was lifting it.
Prayer
Father, You spoke blessing over us before we did anything to deserve it. Fill me with Your favour, and make my mouth quick to bless and slow to curse. Let me be a person whose words carry Your life. Amen.
