Mercies New Every Morning
His faithfulness meets you again today.
Lamentations 3:22-23 (NIV)
“Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
Why this promise matters
A word for this season
This sentence was written from inside the rubble of a city. Jeremiah had watched everything he loved fall. The book is called Lamentations because that is what it is. And right in the middle of that grief, he says these words. His mercies are new every morning.
This is not a promise that pretends the loss is small. It is a promise that says, even here, His faithfulness has not run out. The morning still comes. And mercy comes with it.
Reflection
Receiving the promise
Notice what Jeremiah does not say. He does not say the pain is gone. He does not say the loss has been explained. He says we are not consumed. We are still here. And the reason is not our strength. The reason is His love.
His compassions never fail. They do not arrive worn down. They are new. Not warmed-over leftovers from yesterday. Fresh. Made for the morning you are about to live.
If you woke up tired today, hear this. The mercy that meets you was made this morning. He has not grown weary of your need. He has been preparing this day's grace while you were sleeping.
Great is your faithfulness. This is what Jeremiah saw when he looked up from the ruins. Not a fixed life. A faithful God. That is the foundation. That is what makes another morning possible.

Pray with me
Father, the morning came again. I did not have the strength to make it come, and yet here it is, and here You are. Thank You for mercies I did not earn and could not produce.
Help me receive what You have prepared for today. Not yesterday's strength. Today's. Meet me here, in this exact morning, with what only You can give.
